Trujillo Meadows Yurt

The Trujillo Meadows Yurt resides at 10,400' on the north facing slope above the Los Pinos River, a couple of miles upstream of Trujillo Meadows Reservoir. It is an easy 4-mile tour to the yurt along snow covered forest service roads. There are gentle open slopes out the front door of the yurt perfect for beginning and intermediate telemarkers. Advanced skiers will have fun looking for shots on the extensive north facing tree slopes. A full day loop is possible up to the Flat Mountain ridge and back via the Los Pinos Creek. Extended touring up theLos Pinos drainage gets to waterfalls.

In summer, you can drive all the way to the yurt, which can serve as a base of operation for exploring the Cumbres area and hiking, biking, and fishing. The hike up Rio de los Pinos goes past a small waterfall and can be taken all the way out of the canyon. Biking along various forest roads is also available.
